01 What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. Similar technologies — including local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and software development kits (SDKs) — perform comparable functions and are covered by this policy.
Cookies can be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a service we integrate with). They can also be session cookies that expire when you close your browser, or persistent cookies that remain until they expire or you delete them.
02 How we use cookies
We use cookies to operate and secure our websites and apps, to remember your preferences (such as light vs. dark theme), to understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve our Services, and — with your consent where required — to measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles across unrelated websites, and we do not sell personal information collected through cookies.
03 Categories of cookies
Strictly Necessary
Always activeRequired for the site to function — authentication, session management, load balancing, security, CSRF protection, and remembering your cookie preferences. These cannot be switched off.
Functional
OptionalRemember choices you make — language, region, theme (light/dark), recently opened projects, and customised layouts — to provide a more personal experience. Disabling these may reduce convenience.
Analytics & Performance
OptionalHelp us understand how visitors use our site — pages visited, time spent, navigation paths, errors, and performance metrics — so we can fix issues and prioritise improvements. All analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Marketing
OptionalMeasure the effectiveness of our B2B campaigns — primarily on LinkedIn and industry publications — and help us reach engineering teams who would benefit from our products. These cookies are only set with your consent and never used for consumer retargeting.
04 Specific cookies we use
The table below lists the cookies we commonly set. Cookie names and lifetimes may vary as we improve the Services; the live list in the preference centre is authoritative.
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| ni-theme | Remembers your light/dark theme preference | Functional | 1 year |
| ni-session | Keeps you signed in securely during a session | Strictly necessary | Session |
| ni-csrf | Protects forms from cross-site request forgery | Strictly necessary | Session |
| ni-consent | Stores your cookie preferences | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Distinguish users for aggregated analytics | Analytics | 2 years |
| _gid | Distinguish users on a 24-hour window | Analytics | 24 hours |
| li_gc, li_at | LinkedIn Insight Tag for B2B campaign measurement | Marketing | Up to 2 years |
05 Third-party & SDKs
We use a small number of vetted service providers whose scripts or SDKs may set cookies on our site:
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregated usage analytics, IP anonymised.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag — B2B campaign measurement, set only with marketing consent.
- Cloudflare — bot mitigation, rate limiting, and security; strictly necessary.
- Fonts.googleapis.com — delivery of web fonts; does not set tracking cookies.
These providers operate under their own privacy policies. We review them regularly as part of our vendor risk management program.
06 Managing your preferences
You can update your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie preference centre linked in our footer, or by clearing cookies and reloading the site to be re-prompted. You can also manage cookies directly from your browser settings:
Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the site — including sign-in and security features — from functioning correctly.
07 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry consensus on how to interpret DNT, we do not currently respond to DNT signals. We instead rely on the explicit consent choices you make through our cookie preference centre.
08 Changes to this policy
We review this Cookie Policy periodically and will update it to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in the law, or changes in our Services. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date.
